- Deciduous tree, medium to big. Leaves oppositely arranged, palmately compound with 5 leaflets on each stalk. Leaflets 5 – 22 cm by 2 – 11 cm, oblong to elliptic in shape, ends pointed. Flowers are trumpet – shaped, 5 – 8 cm long, large and showy, 5 – petaled. Flowering induced by dry spell, in April and August in Singapore. Blooms last several days then wilt. Fruits split when matured. Flowers are spectacular, form a pink carpet on the ground around the tree when it falls
