When to use
Use a plant water meter pen after watering to check if the plant is well-watered. You can also use it before watering to determine when your plant needs water.
How to use
Insert the pen into the soil about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way, being careful not to damage the roots or the pen. You can also test multiple areas of the pot, as some areas may be drier than others.
How to read
The meter will have a color-coded display that indicates whether the soil is dry, medium, or moist. For example, a reading in the blue wet zone indicates that the plant is well-watered.
How to use for the first time
If you’re using the pen for the first time, you can put it in a glass of water until the indicator turns blue, then transfer it to the plant pot.
What to do if the soil is packed
If the soil in your plant pot is packed, you can loosen it up with a trowel before inserting the pen.

If it was far more responsive in terms of changing the tube color from white to blue, this would’ve been a very effective plant nurturing tool. It takes very long and that too only when the entire pot has been soaked in water. The dot mark does not move up and down depending upon the moisture content.
